UTTARAKHAND FOREST FIRE

03 NDRF teams comprising of 135 rescuers are engaged in Forest Fire affected areas of Uttarakhand as part of multiple firefighting teams to combat the raging forest fire that have affected several district of Uttarakhand.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are engaged to douse fire in affected areas of three districts of Pauri Garhwal, Almora and Chamoli with firefighting equipment to tackle the forest fire. NDRF Teams are working in Alkapuri & Gadona Nagnath in Chamouli and Base Camp Sanchar Prashiksyan Kendra, Chopara Pauri, while in Almora teams are working in Bhaiswala, Someshwar, Bikisen and Dhauladevi.

NDRF teams are operating in coordination with the officials and personnel of the state fire, SDRF, NGO’s and forest department. These teams are adopting the conventional method of cutting the fire line and containing the fire, as advised by the forest department officials of Uthrakhand Government, so that it does not reach to the inhabited areas.

NDRF Control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and in constant touch with local administration. The force also saved many houses from getting engulfed in the fire in the hilly jungle area of Mehlchori in Pauri district.
