SANJAY KUMAR, IPS, TOOK OVER THE CHARGE AS NEW NDRF DG

Shri. Sanjay Kumar, 1985-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Himachal Pradesh Cadre, took charge as the 9th Director General (DG) of the NDRF, today.The post of NDRF director general (DG) fell vacant after incumbent Shri. R K Pachnanda was appointed as the Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

Prior to the appointment as DG NDRF, Shri. Sanjay kumar was serving as Director General of Police in Himachal Pradesh. In view of the hard work, honesty, uprightness, professionalism, dedication of duty varied experience and specialization, he has been decorated with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2011 and Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2002.

NDRF is a premier force in disaster management having 12 battalions with the strength of over 13000 personnel, located across the Nation as per the vulnerability profile of region. The NDRF is the single largest dedicated disaster response Force in the World, which is trained and equipped as per international standards, capable to deal with any type of disaster be it natural or man-made.
