SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION BY NDRF MAHAD, RAIGAD
Dated 03rd August, 2016 Time 1800 Hrs
A bridge over Savitri River at Mahad on the Mumbai-Goa Highway in Maharashtra's Raigad District collapsed. As per reports, two buses carrying 22 people are believed to fallen in the River. On receipt of information from local administration, four Search & Rescue (SAR) teams of NDRF immediately rushed to the incident site to assist the local administration in search & rescue works.
The NDRF teams comprising of more than 120 responders, equipped with 12 Inflatable Rubber Boats (IRBs), deep divers, Lifebuoy, Life Jackets and other flood rescue equipment required for search and rescue operation.
The heavy flow of water and rain is obstructing the rescue operation. However, despite all odds, NDRF teams are undertaking non-stop search and rescue operation. The operation is still in progress.
The control room in New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and in touch with state authorities.
