RESCUE & EVACUATION OPERATIONS BY NDRF IN BIHAR & U.P.

Flood rescue and evacuation operations by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) continues in the flood-affected areas of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
UTTAR PRADESH : 11 NDRF teams are deployed in various flood-prone areas of State viz. Lucknow, Balia, Ghazipur, Prayagraj and Varanasi. On 23/09/2019, NDRF teams evacuated 238 persons at Balia, 248 persons at Varanasi and 03 persons at Ghazipur. Besides, NDRF teams assisted local administration in distribution of relief materials in the affected areas. Today NDRF teams conducted evacuation operations at various affected villages across Balia Varanasi and Ghazipur districts, evacuated 80 marooned persons and shifted them to safer locations.
During the current monsoon season, NDRF saved/rescued 43 persons, evacuated 3037 persons & 21 livestock and also provided medical assistance to 327 needy persons. The operations continue in U.P.
BIHAR: 10 NDRF teams are deployed for rescue and relief operations in Bihar. On 23/09/2019, NDRF teams deployed at Bhojpur district evacuated 03 pregnant ladies and 01 patient to safer locations. Beside, NDRF team also provided medical assistance to 02 snakebite victims. NDRF team at Bakhtiyarpur evacuated 01 pregnant lady and provided medical assistance to 150 persons.
During the current monsoon season, NDRF saved/rescued 02 persons, evacuated 4508 persons & 45 livestock and also provided medical assistance to 5231 persons in Bihar.
Director General, NDRF is closely monitoring the situation and is in touch with State Administration and other Stakeholders.
