RESCUE AND RELIEF OPERATIONS BY NDRF

Rescue and relief operations by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) continue in flood affected areas of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.NDRF teams have been engaged in a variety of activities, including the rescue operations, distribution of relief material and are providing medical assistance to flood victims.
Bihar : NDRF teams have been assisting the local administration in distribution of relief materials and providing pre hospital care to flood victims. NDRF boats are being used as mobile ambulance to make access to the people stranded in inaccessible areas. Yesterday, 12 persons were rescued and over 1830 persons have been successfully evacuated by NDRF teams from flood affected areas of Chapra, Khagaria, Motihari and Muzaffarpur districts during relief and rescue operations. NDRF teams also provided medical assistance to 1155 persons as well as distributed huge quantity of relief materials. 28 NDRF are engaged in rescue and relief operations in Bihar.
Uttar Pradesh: Rescue and relief operations on Tuesday resumed in the severely hit areas of the flood affected districts viz. Balia, Gorakhpur, Mahrajganj and Sidharthnagar where flood situation still grim. NDRF teams evacuated 7938 persons, provided medical assistance to 7938 persons.NDRF personnel also saved the lives of 284 livestock in Ballia from flood waters. 23 teams are operational in Uttar Pradesh.
West Bengal : 19 teams of NDRF carried out rescue and evacuation operations in various areas of Malda, North & South Dinajpur districts, evacuated 49 persons and distributed huge quantity of relief materials as well as medicines among flood victims. Operations are still in progress.
A 24X7, NDRF control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and in touch with other agencies.
