RESCUE AND RELIEF OPERATIONS BY NDRF

Flood rescue and relief operations by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in flood affected areas of Assam, Bihar, West Bengal and Tripura are continuing. NDRF has mobilized all its resources to assist the flood victims who got marooned due to flash floods & landslides.
Bihar : 15 flood and rescue teams of NDRF have been deployed at various flood affected areas of North Bihar to assist the local administration in rescue and relief work. 11 teams have been deployed at Supaul, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Betiah, Motihari, Kishanganj, Purnia and Deedarganj. 04 more NDRF teams which were airlifted from Bhuwneshwar, Odisha have reached Bihar at 1730 hrs and are being deployed at worst affected areas of Kishanganj, Araria and Purnia districts. Some additional teams are on stand by and shall be mobilized as per demand.
Himachal Pradesh : Today, in the wee hours a massive landslide occurred at Padhar area on the Mandi-Pathankot National Highway near Jogindernagar in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh in which two state transport buses and some light vehicles got buried under the dbris and trapped several persons.
On getting the information, 01 team of NDRF deployed at Nurpur, Himachal Pradesh, immediately rushed to the site and started rescue work along with local administration. To strengthen the operation, 01 more teams deployed at Shimla was mobilised to spot and joined the operations.
So far, 21 bodies have been retrieved by rescue agencies. The operation is still in progress.
NDRF HQ, New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and is in touch with other agencies and stakeholders.
