Rescue and Evacuation Operation By NDRF
Dated 22ND July, 2016 Time 1800 Hrs
As a part of proactive measures, NDRF has pre-positioned its 36 self- contained Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams in various flood sensitive areas of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and West Bengal. These USAR team comprising of trained responders, Inflatable Rubber Boats (IRBs), life jackets, deep divers, deep diving set and other equipment used to search and rescue people in flood situations.
06 NDRF USAR teams are pre-positioned/deployed in highly vulnerable areas of Bihar. 01 team each is pre-positioned at Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga & Purnia and 02 teams are at Gopalganj. In addition one team is permanently located at Supaul to keep extra vigil in these flood prone areas.
NDRF team pre-positioned at Purnia evacuated 50 stranded persons to safer place who were marooned due to flood like situation and shifted them to safer places.
