Rescue and Evacuation Operation By NDRF

"Thirty-six NDRF teams have been pre-positioned at various flood-prone locations keeping in view the flood vulnerability and keep extra vigil at locations where rains and floods begin wreaking havoc during monsoon. All teams are self- contained and equipped with state-of-the-art disaster response equipment and tools”.
“Out of thirty-six, seven teams are pre-positioned in vulnerable areas of Uttrakhand to assist in floods, landslides and other related disasters. One teams each is prepositioned at Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Udhamsinghnagar, Dehradun and 02 at Almora.
NDRF Team pre-positioned at Uttrakashi helped approx. 1600 persons (Kawari and Yatris) to cross the Bhagirthi River, where these were stranded due to blockade of routes as a result of landslides. NDRF team assisted to shift them from Uttarkshi to Gangotri side. In addition, NDRF team pre-positioned at Uttarkashi evacuated approx. 500 stranded persons to safer place.
In another rescue work, one team of NDRF deployed at Vill-South Chegmari and Base Sangpara Mainaguri, Distt-Jalpaiguri (WB) rescued 84 persons who were marooned due to flood like situation and shifted them to safer places.
