THE PREPARATORY MEETING OF BIMSTEC DMEx-2017 TO BE HELD AT VIGYAN BHAWAN TOMORROW

On initiatives of Govt. of India, the first “The Bay of Bengal Initiatives for Multi Sectoral Technical and Economic Corporation Disaster Management Exercise- 2017 (BIMSTEC DMEx) is being organized by NDRF with the participation of all seven member countries. This exercise will provide a platform to share the best practices on comprehensive aspects of disaster risk reduction, strengthening regional response and coordination for disaster management among the BIMSTEC nations.

The exercise shall be conducted in two phase in Delhi and NCR. The first phase scheduled for 08-09th August, 2017 comprises a preparatory meeting & field visit of site selected for Field Training Exercise (FTX) during the main exercise. The main exercise will comprises of Table Top Exercise (TTX), Field Training Exercise (FTX) and After Action Review (AAR) which is scheduled for 10-13 October, 2017.

The preparatory meeting will provide a platform to delegates to discuss types of events, venues and requirement etc for smooth conduct of main exercise shall be discussed with the delegates of all seven member countries. The meeting will be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 08thAugust, 2017.

Lt. General (Retd) N.C. Marwah, member National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will be the chief guest of the function.

Delegates from all member countries will share their respective Disaster Response Mechanism and Capability in Response and Relief to various aspects of disasters.

The meeting shall be attended by the delegates of all seven BIMSTEC nations and representatives from MEA, MHA, NDMA, IMD, CWC and DDMA.
