PREPARATORY MEETING FOR BIMSTEC DISASTER MANAGEMENT EXERCISE-2017 CONCLUDES

A Grand actual field exposer was given to Delegates of all seven BIMSTEC nations during field visit as part of preparations for BIMSTEC Disaster management exercise. For this a flood rescue demonstration was organised by NDRF at Yamuna Barrage. The demonstration was held amid heavy rains and heavy flow of water current in Yamuna. The delegates were thrilled to see very daring real life rescue techniques enacted by NDRF rescuers. The scene at the site was pretty much similar to the real flood disaster. An exhibition of the flood rescue equipment was also held at the demonstration site.

A similar demonstration on collapsed search and rescue (CSSR) was held at NTH Ghaziabad. To familiarise the delegates with the state-of-the-artequipment an exhibition held at NTH Ghaziabad. For smooth conduct of main exercise detailed discussion on various issues were held with the visiting delegates. The main exercise comprise of Table Top Exercise (TTX), Field Training Exercise (FTX) and After Action Review (AAR).

The purpose of the site visit and demonstration was to acquaint the delegates for fruitful and active participation in the BIMSTEC Disaster management exercise to be held on 10-13th October 2017.

A Summing up session was held at NDRF base Ghaziabad. All the delegates appreciated the efforts of Govt. of India and BIMSTEC Secretariat. The delegates were impressed by the efforts of NDRF in hosting this mega event.
