Over 35,000 persons evacuated by NDRF

119 flood rescue teams of NDRF comprising of trained and dedicated responders equipped with latest disaster response equipment are working on war footing in flood affected areas across the country. Till now, over 1334 persons have been rescued, 35000 persons & 142 livestock have been evacuated by NDRF from the flood affected areas of Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The rescue operations continue.
Bihar:- The rescue operations by NDRF are in full swing in Bihar. 27 NDRF teams are carrying out rescue operations by encountering all difficulties in flood affected areas. NDRF teams are ferrying the people in NDRF boats and shifting them to safer places. Yesterday, NDRF evacuated 4870 persons and 33 livestock from various flood affected areas. So far, NDRF has rescued 916 persons, evacuated 18977 persons & 141 livestock, retrieved 14 dead bodies and distributed 5100 food packets, 9975 Kg dry ration and 500 water bottles to flood victims. The operations are in progress.
Uttar Pradesh:- Many districts of Uttar Pradesh are reeling under flood water and marooning several people. NDRF teams are relentlessly carrying out the rescue operations and making every effort to reach to the far flung areas. Yesterday, NDRF teams evacuated 1413 persons from flood affected areas of Gonda, Balrampur, Bahriach, Shravasti, Maharajganj and Barabanki and distributed relief materials to needy persons. So far, NDRF has rescued 61 persons and evacuated 6272 persons in Uttar Pradesh.
Presently, 23 flood rescue teams have been deployed in U.P. 04 teams airlifted from NDRF base Pune, today.
Assam:- 19 NDRF teams are carrying out rescue operations in Assam. NDRF responders are making the best use of their proficiency and professionalism to rescue the flood victims. Yesterday, NDRF teams rescued 12 persons in Dhemaji and evacuated 688 persons from Biswanath, Kokrajhar and Dhemaji. NDRF team operational at Dhemaji also provided medical assistance to 22 villagers. So far, NDRF has rescued 94 persons and evacuated 6540 persons in Assam.
West Bengal : 11 NDRF teams are engaged in rescue and relief operations in West Bengal. Today, 04 additional teams are being airlifted from NDRF base Arrakonam to West Bengal. NDRF teams are operational at North & South Dinajpur, Malda where rise in water level in river Atreyee, Punarbhabha and Ganga waterlogged the low lying areas. Yesterday, NDRF evacuated 985 persons who got marooned in these areas and shifted them to safer places. So far, 253 persons rescued and 3216 evacuated by NDRF in West Bengal. Operations are still in progress.
A 24X7, NDRF control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and in touch with other agencies.
