NDRF personnel awarded with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Independence Day - 2022

Officers & personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been awarded with the prestigious ‘President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service’ and ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’ on the occasion of Independence Day-2022.

The President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded for long and distinguished service to individuals who have served at least 25 years in the State/Central police or in security organizations. Individual must be prior recipient of the Police Medal for Meritorious Service and must have held that medal for at least six years. This year Shri Mohsen Shahedi, Deputy Inspector General, NDRF has been conferred with ‘President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service’ for his outstanding contribution towards the service. He joined Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in 1994 and served in insurgency areas of Doda,Manipur,Assam and Srinagar. In 2006, he was tasked for security of hypersensitive Srinagar International Airport. Shri Mohsen Shahedi also played a stellar role in ensuring smooth transition in Anantnag and Kulgam in the aftermath of abrogation of Article 370 in J & K. He is presently working as DIG (Ops & Trg) NDRF.

The Police Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded to the personnel of police and security organization who have completed a minimum service of 18 years. The medal is awarded to personnel for their commendable work whether operational or administrative. Shri Gurminder Singh, Commandant, 2nd Bn NDRF at Haringhata (West Bengal) and Shri Milap Chand, Inspector 13th Bn NDRF Ladhowal (Punjab) have been awarded with ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’ in recognition of their outstanding services.

So far 12 NDRF Officers/personnel have been awarded with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 86 personnel with Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
