NDRF’s TWO DAY CONFERENCE ON CAPACITY BUILDING OF SDRF/CD/HG & FIRE SERVICES-2019 CONCLUDES.

On the second day of the conference, a fruitful discussion on theme “Information Sharing & Technology in DM” was held & imminent expertise from various agencies shared their views. Dr. R.K. Jenamani, Scientist “F” from IMD gave a presentation on Disaster Forecasting, Innovation and Application. Sh. P.K. Srivastava, Commandant, NDRF underlined “Use of Technology in Disaster Response & Re-Authorization of Equipment/Inventory. Besides detailed discussion on various agenda points of SDRF was also part of conference.
Dr. P.K. Mishra, Additional Secretary to the PM of India was the chief guest on the valedictory session. During his address, Dr. Mishra underlined that we have shifted from relief centric approach to response centric approach. In advance countries Disaster Management is an intensive subject, so we still have to work for its strengthening. He said that today NDRF has established itself as a dependable, trusted and respectful Force. The Force has set new benchmark for effective response. It is most visible face of Disaster Management in our country. The NDRF can not be a substitute for the local capacity, it can guide the local organization viz. Civil Defence, SDRF, Home Guards & Fire Services for capacity building. He also underlined the DM structures of the country and felt the need of standardization of SDRF.
He complemented the fire service personnel for their courage and selfless services and emphasized the need of standardization of fire services. He uttered the role of civil defence and home guards in the disaster response and expressed his concerned about lack of acknowledgement of their vital role.
He complemented NDRF foe organizing this first of its kind conference on the capacity building of SDRF in consultation with home guards, civil defence and fire services. He was optimistic that this conference will be definitely helpful to strengthen the all agencies/stakeholders of India’s disaster response mechanism and shall bridge the gaps.
Welcoming the chief guest, Director General, NDRF, Sh. Satya Narayan Pradhan said that only NDRF & SDRF are not the sole agent of response, on the real ground SDRF, Civil Defence & Fire Services are the first responders till arrival of NDRF. He stressed the need to bring all the agencies/stakeholders of India’s Disaster Response mechanism as well as need of a Central Emergency Response System where all the stakeholder would be under one roof. A comprehensive overview of proceedings of last day & half was done by DG, NDRF.
