NDRF’s TWO DAY CONFERENCE ON CAPACITY BUILDING FOR DISASTER RESPONSE 2022 CONCLUDED TODAY

The 02 days long Annual conference on capacity building for disaster response come to an end today. Dr. P K Mishra, Principal Secretary to Hon’ble Prime Minister graces the Valedictory session as chief guest.
On the 2nd day, Shri Rajendra Singh, Member NDMA expresses his view on Capacity Building for Future Challenges- Initiatives and Best Practices by SDRFs. Fruitful discussion on theme ‘Importance of NGOs & Philanthropic sector during Disaster Management’ also took place. Besides, representatives from different states gave presentation on various topics of disaster Management.
DG NDRF Welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries at valedictory session and informed the gathering about the NDRF’s new initiatives like Modernization of equipment, Vulnerability mapping of all states, Reviewing the structure and composition of NDRF teams and physical fitness of the rescuers. He said that NDRF is committed for strengthening of SDRFs, Civil Defence, Home Guards & Stakeholders. After that, IG NDRF presented a synopsis of the sessions before the Chief Guest.
DR. P K Mishra addressed the gathering and applauded the work done by all response agencies in realm of disaster management. He said that we have made significant progress in Disaster Management in last decade and more. Dr Mishra also highlighted the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s 10 points agenda on Disaster Risk Reduction. He added that we need to strengthen disaster response to grass root level and local level disaster management mechanism is very crucial for effective disaster response.
Dr Mishra further said that the country must be prepared for worst case scenario. He urged states to upgrade their fire services. He added that disaster response ecosystem requires strengthening at all levels and for that the importance of inter-agency coordination is very crucial. Government of India is always there to provide all possible aid to the NDRF and other stakeholders.
