NDRF TEAM SAVED A PRECIOUS LIFE IN ASSAM

The rescue and relief operations by NDRF in flood affected areas across the country is in progress. NDRF teams, in addition to evacuation of flood victims to safer places, are also assisting the local administration in distribution of relief material as well as providing medical assistance to the flood victims.

Assam : Today, at about 0900, the alert Santry of NDRF response base, Uzanbazar, Guwahati, Assam spotted a drowning person in river Brahmaputra approx. 20 meters from its base and alerted the team. Immediately, 04 rescuers with boat including deep divers & other life-saving equipment mobilized to spot and rescued the person alive. After Pre Hospital Treatment (PHT), he was handed over to Police Latasil, Guwahati, Assam. The victim was identified as Chandra Saikia age- 45 years S/O Jineshwar Saikia Vill- Prafullanagar, Mangaldai, Distt- Darrang, Assam. Prompt response of NDRF team saved a precious life.

Gujarat: 22 NDRF teams with 66 boats and other flood rescue equipment are deployed in Gujarat. NDRF teams are engaged in providing relief to the flood affected victims. Yesterday, NDRF team distributed 3500 food packets and 185 bags of dry ration at various flood affected areas of Patan, Gujarat.

Rajasthan: 04 NDRF teams with 12 boats and other flood rescue equipment are deployed in Rajasthan. Yesterday, NDRF teams conducted rescue operation in District Jalore and evacuated 11 Persons who got marooned and shifted them to safer places. NDRF team also distributed 575 food packets to needy persons.

West Bengal : 11 NDRF teams with 40 boats and other flood rescue equipment are deployed. Yesterday, NDRF teams deployed at West Medinipur conducted rescue operation and evacuated 21 persons. Teams also distributed 1200 water packets and other relief materials to needy persons.

NDRF HQ, New Delhi is monitoring the situation closely and in touch with other agencies and stakeholders.
