NDRF SAVED 535 LIVES AND EVACUATED MORE THAN 24,600 MAROONED PEOPLE IN FLOOD-HIT KERALA

As the flood water is receding in most affected areas, flood -ravaged Kerala is struggling to return to normalcy. As per IMD forecast, there are no heavy rainfall alerts in next few days. 41 teams of NDRF are still deployed in Kerala to assist the state administration in rescue, relief and rehabilitation work and to respond in any eventuality, if arises.

Today, NDRF Teams deployed in Distt. Idukki, Kottayam and Pathanamthtitta for rescue and relief operation evacuated 122 persons to safer places. Besides NDRF teams also distributed relief materials in the flood affected areas of Distt. Alappuzha and Pathanamthtitta.

In addition, Medical components which are the integral part of NDRF team continuously, are engaged in providing medical assistance to the sick and needy victims in inundated areas of Kerala. NDRF medical teams established medical camp in affected areas of Distt. Alappuzha and Thrisuur and provided medical aid to 104 people.

During the rescue and relief operations, NDRF teams demonstrated their prowess and professionalism and left no stone unturned to provide immediate relief to the victims. In on-going operation, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has rescued 535 lives and evacuated 24,616 marooned people to safer places as well as teams have rescued 119 livestock and provided pre hospital treatment to the 4908 people, so far.

A 24x7, NDRF control room is monitoring the situation round the clock and is in close touch with other agencies/stakeholders.
