NDRF RESCUE OPERATION IN BENGALURU

On 15th Feb’ 2018 at about 1615 hrs, a five-storeyed building collapsed at Kasavanahalli in Bangaluru. The building was under construction & few labours were laborers working in the building at the time of the collapse. As per reports, approx. 20 persons were present in the building when the incident took place. After getting the information, 01 Search and Rescue team of NDRF stationed at Regional Response Centre (RRC), Bangaluru, immediately rushed to the site and joined the search and rescue operation with police and fire brigade.
As the victims were trapped under the debris, due care and diligence is being taken into consideration to locate the victims alive. Technical search using the latest search equipment was carried out by the NDRF teams to make access to locate the trapped victims. Consequently, the first victim namely Raghubir, aged 33 years was brought alive within one hour of operation by NDRF team. To strengthen the operation, one more team rushed to the spot from its RRC Hyderabad and the team joined the ongoing rescue operation.
NDRF team continued its rescue operation for the whole night intervening 15/16 feb’18. NDRF responders cut the concrete slabs with the help of latest disaster response gadget and made hole to insert victim locating cameras to confirm the existence of survivors. Canines who are the integral part of NDRF rescue teams, are also being used to search the survivor’s. Due to relentless efforts of NDRF teams, 01 victim namely Sadhanand, aged-25 years was rescued by team at 2225 hrs, Virender, aged-24 years at 0336 hrs early in the morning and another victim at 0850 hrs today.
So far, 11 victims have been evacuated alive and 03 dead bodies retrieved from the debris by rescue agencies. The Search and Rescue operation is still underway.
A 24X7, control room in New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and is in touch with the local administration.
