NDRF OPERATION AT BALTAL

Dated 13 July, 2017 Time 1600 Hrs

In the intervening night of 12/13 July, 2017, a car going towards Sonmarg met with an accident and fell into a 250 feet deep trench at Baltal, Srinagar. The accident took place near Baltal, Srinagar. On getting the information from Baltal Police Control Room, one team of NDRF stationed at Baltal for Sri AmarnathJi Yatra rushed to the spot in wee hours and started rescue operation.

NDRF responder made access to the victim with help of rope rescue techniques and recovered the body of victim at 0605 hrs. The victim was identified as Manender Singh, S/o Dilip Singh, resident of Batamalloo, Srinagar. The body was further handed over to local police.

It is pertinent to mention here that for responding to disasters and disaster like situation, NDRF teams are equipped and trained in rope rescue techniques as well.
