NDRF team deployed at Pangla, Dharchula conducted rescue operation, on 13/07/18, in between Nazanj & Lakhimpur route, where 03 Kailash Mansarovar Pilgrims got stranded due to the landslide. As the area was inaccessible, NDRF responders made access to them by traveling 12 Km by foot and safely evacuated all 03 pilgrims. So far, NDRF has saved 23 precious lives, evacuated 15,316 persons and provided medical assistance to 3050 needy persons during the monsoon season across the country.
A close watch is kept over CWC and IMD flood alerts. Keeping in view the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast report/warnings, 03 additional teams are mobilized for further pre-positioning at Distt. Jabalpur, Dhar, Badwani (Madhya Pradesh) and 02 more teams to Distt. Junagarh, Rajkot (Gujarat). Each team is self-contained to respond to any eventuality arises due to flood & rains. NDRF teams also carry essential medicines, doctors, and paramedical staff to provide pre-hospital treatment to the needy persons. NDRF teams continue to respond to the eventualities arising due to floods.
NDRF HQ as well as all NDRF battalions control room are functioning round the clock to deal with any requirement in view of water logging or any flood like situation for prompt response. All team commanders are keeping close watch over the situation and are in touch with other supporting agencies/stakeholders. A proper evacuation plan has been chalk out for each vulnerable area with consultation with the local authority and same is being rehearsed.
