NDRF CONDUCTING EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI MOCK EXERCISE AT HAVELOCK ISLAND IN ANDAMAN & NICOBAR

In an effort to assess the preparedness in wake of Earthquake, Tsunami and such natural calamities as well as to evaluate the system's operational capacity, the efficiency of communications among the various stakeholders, the state of preparedness of national emergency services, a MOCK EXERCISE ON EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI PREPAREDNESS is being jointly organised by National Disaster Response Force, District Administration (S/A) and the Directorate of Disaster Management at Havelock Island, Andaman & Nicobar.

Today, in order of the exercise a table top exercise was conducted in the Dolphin Resort in which defined the role and responsibilities of the participating agencies and stakeholders to conduct the mock Exercise in a cogent manner. The Mock Exercise is to be held on 12.06.2017 at Havelock Island in which NDRF is designated as the lead agency for conducting the Mock Exercise. Shri R K Pachnanda, IPS, Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is personally supervising the whole mock exercise along with DIG (Ops & Trg) Shri R.K Rana, shri Nishith Upadhyay Commandant, Miss Rekha Nambiar, Commandant and other senior officials.

During the mock Exercise NDRF will demonstrate the Search & Rescue & First Aid techniques, evacuation of people from the affected areas and the use of early warning system in front of a cross section of society, especially for local public who stay in low line areas in order to create general awareness in case of Earthquake and Tsunami.
