NDRF TO CELEBRATE 18th RAISING DAY

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is organizing its 18th Raising Day function on 19th January 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Nityanand Rai will be the Chief Guest on the occasion and will award medals to NDRF Rescuers.

NDRF was raised on 19th January 2006 as a multi-skilled stand-alone Disaster Response Force to respond to all natural and man-made disasters. It attends various disasters including Collapsed Structure Search & Rescue Ops during earthquakes and landslides, Flood Water Rescue including cyclones, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear contingencies and Medical emergencies etc. It is strategically deployed across the country with 16 Battalions and 28 Regional Response Centers. NDRF Academy is located at Nagpur.

In a short span of time, NDRF has proved itself as a vibrant and efficient Force of the country which provides prompt assistance to the States in any disaster.

This humanitarian Force has responded professionally in saving lives and livelihoods and preparing communities for any calamity, justifying its motto ‘Apda Seva Sadav Sarvatra’. So far, NDRF has responded to over 8,500 operations and rescued/evacuated about nine lakh precious human lives. Besides, the Force has also sensitized more than 89 lakhs citizens on the disaster management and response.

In the line of duty, 14 NDRF Rescuers have laid down their lives during various operations & trg.
