NDRF CARRIED OUT OPERATION AT THE CONSTRUCTION SITE OF AIIMS WHERE AN UNDER CONSTRUCTION WALL COLLAPSED

Time 1700 hrs

Today at about 1145 hrs, a steep wall around 50’ high in below ground construction site at All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS),New Delhi collapsed. At the time of incident, 05 construction workers came into the impact of collapsed wall. 02 workers reported dead and 03 other were injured.

On requisition of local administration, 02 Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams of NDRF, 01 each from its Dwarka (Delhi) and Ghaziabad (U.P) bases immediately rushed to the incident site to carry out search and rescue operation. These NDRF teams were equipped with *state-of-the-art* disaster response gadgets and sniffer dogs. The trained responder of NDRF made the best use of latest search gadgets and K9 to trace the victims trapped under the rubble. Due precautions and care were taken into consideration as there was possibility of more victims trapped under the rubble. Medical component of NDRF USAR teams were also present at the incident site.

Sh. Randeep Kumar Rana, Dy. Inspector General, Operation, NDRF along with other officers were also present at site to supervise the search and rescue operation. As no more victims were found trapped under rubble, the operation was called off and teams left to their respective locations.
