MONSOON DEPLOYMENT OF NDRF
Dated: 21 July, 2017 Time: 1500 Hrs
"Total 82 NDRF teams have been deployed at various parts of the country to provide specialized response during any type of emergency situations. Out of which, 41 teams are prepositioned in various flood-prone locations viz. 01 team in Arunachal Pradesh, 09 in Assam, 04 in Bihar, 07 in Gujarat, 01 in Himachal Pradesh, 02 in Madhya Pradesh, 01 in Nagaland, 01 in Punjab, 08 in Uttar Pradesh, 03 in Uttarakhand and 04 in West Bengal, keeping in view of the flood vulnerability and keep extra vigil. All teams are self-contained and equipped with state-of-the-art disaster response equipment”.
Apart of above, 01 team left the location for Distt. East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, as a proactive measure, where the water level is increasing in the Godavari river due to incessant rains.
In this monsoon season, NDRF teams have evacuated more than 1330 persons. Besides, NDRF teams have provided medical assistance on site to the 3378 needy people.
NDRF team conducted community capacity building programme in Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal and sensitized more than 2570 persons in one day. NDRF is continuously engaged in imparting disaster management training to various Stakeholders through Community Capacity Building programmes and school safety programmes to minimize human and animal loss during natural and manmade disaster.
