MONSOON DEPLOYMENT OF NDRF

A close vigil is kept over the situation in various flood affected areas of the country. Though, the situation has improved in last two days, still 70 teams of NDRF are prepositioned in 14 flood affected states in addition to 41 teams on permanent locations in 23 States to tackle monsoon related exigencies. The NDRF teams have been engaged to restore normalcy in the flood affected areas and also responding other untoward incidents likes structural collapse, drowning cases, landslide and flood situations, arising during monsoon season.

Gujarat : Heavy rains in Gujarat created water logging at several places in Distt.-Girsomnath (Gujarat) and stranded several people. Yesterday, a team of NDRF deployed at Girsomnath for emergency response conducted evacuation operations in the flooded areas like Vithalpur, Godavari & Kodia, evacuated 65 persons to safer place and also distributed relief materials to needy person. In addition, NDRF team also provided medical assistance to 144 persons at vill- Zankhya. NDRF has pre-positioned its 18 teams in various parts of Gujarat. In addition 03 teams are kept as stand by at its Regional Response Centre (RRC), Gandhinagar.

Kerala Yesterday, 02 NDRF teams commenced rescue and evacuation operations at flood affected areas of district Kattayam and Alappuzha and evacuated over 100 stranded people to safer place. 01 team is still operational at Alappuzha.

So far, NDRF has rescued 23 persons (Bihar-03, Uttrakhand-20) & 19 Live stocks (Gujarat-6, Kerala-12 & Uttrakhand-01), evacuated 16104 (Assam-3396, Gujarat-661, J&K-285, Kerala-176, Maharashtra-1691, Tripura-9858, Rajasthan-16 & Uttrakhand-21) across the country during this monsoon season. NDRF teams also provided medical assistance to more than 4000 needy persons.

A 24x7, NDRF control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation round the clock.
