MONSOON-2023: LANDSLIDE IN MAHARASHTRA’S RAIGAD DISTRICT

Dated 21/07/2023 Time: - 1800 Hrs.

Incessant rainfall triggered a massive landslide at Irshalwadi village in Khalapur tehsil, Raigad, Maharashtra on Wednesday midnight. As per reports several people are said to be trapped under the debris.

On receipt of information, 04 NDRF teams from 05 Bn at Pune with the canine squad and advanced equipment moved to the incident site and reached about 04:00 hrs. to conduct rescue operation in coordination with State Administration, Police and TDRF.

So far, 22 dead bodies have been retrieved from the site. Commandant 05 Bn is supervising the operation. Owning to continuous rainfall and threat of further landslide and no live rescue apparent at this stage, Ops has been called off in consultation with local administration. It will resume at early morning on 22nd July.

NDRF control room is closely monitoring the situation and is in close contact with concerned authorities.
