MONSOON - 2018 : 3000 NDRF RESPONDERS HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

In view of monsoon season and as a part of proactive measures, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has pre-positioned its rescue and relief teams in the vulnerable areas of flood prone States across the country. Total 96 rescue and relief teams of NDRF comprising of over 3000 responders are deployed in 71 locations to face the challenges arising due to floods. 54 rescue and relief teams have been pre-positioned in 45 vulnerable locations whereas 42 teams are permanently deployed in 26 Regional Response Centers (RRCs). These RRCs are identified as per the vulnerability profile of the States for prompt response to any eventuality.
Shri Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State, Government of India visited the NDRF Base RRC Mumbai to know the preparation level of National Disaster Response Force for this monsoon season. NDRF officials briefed him about their planning and preparation to mitigate the risk in any type of possible disaster situations.
Incessant rain increased the water level of the Auranga river due to this the situations have grim in low lying areas of Distt Valsad. In connection with, 01 team of NDRF divided into two sub teams, 01 each have been deployed at Bander road & Kashmir Nagar of Distt Valsad, Gujarat to response in any type of emergency.
So far, due to prompt response, determination and specialized response of NDRF teams, 23 precious lives that got trapped due to floods and rains during the monsoon season were rescued across the country and 15,263 persons were evacuated to a safer place. Besides, Doctor and paramedics of NDRF also provided medical assistance to 3050 needy persons in various states of the country.
A 24X7, NDRF control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and in touch with other agencies.
