MEDALS TO NDRF PERSONNEL’S ON THE OCCASION OF REPUBLIC DAY-2018

05 NDRF personnel have been awarded with the President Police Medal for distinguish & Meritorious on the occasion of Republic Day-2017. Sh. Sudhir Kumar Singh, Deputy Inspector General (BSF), presently in NDRF has been awarded with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in recognition to his self-less services, Shri Keshav Kumar, Second-In-Command, Sh. Lokendra Singh, Deputy Commandant, Sub Inspector Chitukane Pramod Tulsiram and Assistant Sub Inspector Ram Niwas Rawat of NDRF have been conferred with Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Shri Sudhir Kumar Singh, Deputy Inspector General was appointed in Border Security force as an Assistant Commandant on 5th Oct 1987. In the year 1988 when Militancy in Punjab was at its peak, the officer displayed high sense of devotion. He remained deployed in Counter Insurgency role at Gool, Ramban, Jammu & Kashmir and Manipur to fight against the militants/ANEs. The commitment and initiative demonstrated by him in taking up challenges, keeping highest traditions of BSF in line reflects high qualities of officer. In recognition of his unblemished service career and commendable performance, the officer has been conferred with ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’ on Independence Day 2008, besides Director General’s Commendation Roll on 27 different occasions.
Shri Keshav Kumar, Second-in-Command, joined BSF as Assistant Commandant in 1997. On completion of his basic training, he was posted in Uri, J & K in anti-infiltration role and subsequently to Doda, Jammu in IS Duty role in Ops Rakshak. The duty performed by his coy under his command got appreciation from BSF as well as Army. His devotion to duty and ever vigilant attitude got his area of responsibility incident free at highly sensitive Indo-Pak Border in Amritsar Sector, Punjab during 1999-2000. Under his command 6 NSCN (IM) dreaded militants with huge cache of Arms and Ammunitions were caught from their hideouts in Nariyan hills, Manipur and The duties performed by the officer at Dhubri border in Assam from 2004-2005 saw many apprehensions of smugglers and recoveries of huge contraband items. For his outstanding performances in various operational and administrative fronts in BSF as well as in NDRF, Shri Keshav Kumar Second-in-Command has been awarded 16 times with Director General’s Commendation Roll & Disc, 02 times Vice Chairman NDMA’s Commendation Roll and with NDRF medal.
Shri Lokendra Singh, Deputy Commandant, joined ITBP as SI/GD on 22 April 1992. During the Basic Training at ITBP Academy he was adjudged as best trainee. He has completed efficiently various courses not only in ITBP but also at various renowned institutions outside the force. Officer performed his duty effectively in various capacities like training, VIP security in India and Sri Lanka, Border Security in Leh & Sikkim, Bank Security in Punjab during Terrorism, Election Duties in Naxal affected areas of Chhatisgarh, Jharkhand and Assam, Anti-terrorist operations in J&K, internal security duties in Arunanchal Pradesh and Disaster management duties in NDRF. The officer did exceedingly well during his tenure in NDRF and led sincerely in various operations especially in Uttarakhand disaster, Kashmir flood and Nepal earthquake disaster.
Shri Chitukane Pramod Tulsiram joined as Constable in CRPF on 29/06/1985. The sound professional knowledge acquired during the strenuous basic training, subsequent in-service courses was manifested by the individual emphatically while discharging his duties in various appointments whether operational, training or administrative, in the service of the Nation in altruistic manners. During his service he participated actively in anti-terror and anti naxal operations in the naxal affected regions. While in NDRF he participated in various operations and did well. His dedication and unflinching commitment to duty was highly appreciated by all senior officers.
Shri Ram Niwas Rawat joined BSF as Constable (GD) on 04/04/1986. He performed duties in the forward BOPs of the BSF locations. He remained posted in extreme hard area locations like Gurej, Kashmir (J&K). He had also served in Tear Smoke Unit, Tekanpur and proved his worth. He always performed duties dauntlessly and patiently to the entire satisfaction of his senior officers. He has extraordinary endurance and is always prepared to shoulder responsibility with smiling face. He has always been a source of inspiration to other members of the Force and has produced desired results through personal example, which has been appreciated at all levels.
