LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS FOR NDRF

National Disaster Response Force is relentlessly engaged in developing as safety culture and making a disaster resilient Nation. School is one of the best venues for creating such awareness about disasters and the response mechanism to mitigate its effects. As a special initiative for boosting the confidence and infuse skills among the Students, a special campaign was launched by NDRF in all School across the country and organized Inter- School Safety Mock Drill competition to sensitize children and the school community on the issues of disaster preparedness, safety measures and to motivate key stakeholders.

The Disaster Management Cell, NOIDA, Uttar Pradesh, in association with Shuttl as technical partner and PPF as knowledge partner, conducted a Mega-School Earthquake Evacuation Drill in 110 schools totaling 80,000 students, on the same day and same time, from 11.00 a.m to 12.00 p.m, on April 27, 2017. In addition to the students, teachers, resource personnel, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) had also participated. The NDRF actively took part in each Mock-drill and provided every support and expert guidance at every school for the successful conduct of the event.

This was the first of its kind mega earthquake evacuation drill held in the country on such a large scale, which has been recorded as national record in Limca Book of Records. For the recognition of NDRF efforts, a certificate of Limca Book of Records has been presented to the Director General, NDRF, Sh. Sanjay Kumar, IPS by the representative of Limca Book of Records at NDRF Head Quarter, New Delhi, today.

To foster a disaster resilient country, NDRF conducts Community Awareness Programmes, Mock Exercises, lectures and demonstration at regular interval. The Force has conducted 1637 School Safety Programmes (SSP) in which 688454 persons got benefitted, so far.
