FLOOD RESCUE OPERATIONS BY NDRF

The rescue and relief operations by NDRF in flood affected areas across the country continues. NDRF teams are relentlessly continuing rescue operations in the affected areas. So far, NDRF has evacuated 11,944 persons, 40 livestock, retrieved 90 dead bodies and provided health care facilities to 3378 affected people during this monsoon season.
Himachal Pradesh : Yesterday, the engine of a private country made boat, carrying 03 persons namely, Gurucharan, Age-65 year, Neeraj, Age—25 year and Balbir, Age- 26 year, suddenly stopped working in the midstream of Sutlej River and the boat got swept away. The boat got anchored with a tree in the midstream of river Sutlej. NDRF team stationed at Sunni, District- Shimla, HP immediately launched the rescue operation. The operation was very risky due to high current, NDRF responders anchored the boat with the help of mountaineering equipment and rescued all three persons.
Gujarat: The flood situation in Gujarat is improving, NDRF teams are engaged in relief work in the affected areas with the local administration. So far, NDRF has rescued 7381 persons, 27 livestock and retrieved 10 dead bodies. NDRF teams also distributed 6,786 food packets, 65350 water bottles and provide medical assistance to 815 flood affected victims.
Rajasthan: Yesterday, NDRF teams conducted rescue operation at District Jalore and ferried 25 persons from waterlogged areas. NDRF team operational at Udaipur retrieved one dead body.
West Bengal : NDRF teams operational in West Bengal have rescued 1267 person and retrieved 03 dead bodies. Yesterday, NDRF teams deployed at West Medinipur & Hooghly conducted rescue operationand evacuated few persons. Teams also distributed relief materials to needy persons.
NDRF HQ, New Delhi is monitoring the situation closely and in touch with other agencies and stakeholders.
