FLOOD RESCUE OPERATION BY NDRF

On Monday, incessant rainfall raised the water level of River Nagavali and created flood like situation at Village- Majhiguda & Thiruwali, District Rayagada, Odisha. On requisition of local administration, two NDRF teams immediately rushed to Rayagada from 03 NDRF Battalion Mundali, Odisha and assisted local administration in distribution of 300 food pkts to flood affected persons at Village- Majhiguda & Thiruwali.

One NDRF team is conducting search and rescue operation atBathu Ki Ladi, Sub division Jawali, Distt-Kangra, Himachal Padesh in connection with drowning of a 25 year old male in Pong Dam.

The heavy rainfall in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts of Andhra Pradesh, inundated several low-lying areas and created flood like situation. NDRF prepositioned
01 team at Srikakulam, 01 team at Rajmundari and 01 team at Vizianagaram to respond to any flood like situation.

NDRF has pre-positioned its 48 self-contained flood rescue teams in flood prone areas across the country for prompt response to any disaster and disaster like situation, in addition to 35 permanent location. NDRF teams are keeping close watch over the flood in their respective Area of Responsibility and in constant touch with local administration.

DG NDRF is closely monitoring the situation and also in touch with state authority for further development of situation.
