FLOOD RESCUE AND RELIEF OPERATION BY NDRF
Date : 23/7/2017 Time : 1900 Hrs
Heavy rain for last couple of days created flood like situation in several parts of Gujarat and left several people marooned. 10 flood and rescue teams of NDRF have been pre-positioned at various flood prone areas across the State for prompt response to flood disaster. 01 team each is pre-positioned at Amreli, Bhuj, Banaskatha, Morbi, Mehsana, Rajkot, Surendranagr, Valsad and 02 team at Surat. Besides, 01 team each is stationed at Vadodara and Gandhinagar.
Yesterday, NDRF teams deployed at Surendranagar and Morbi districts carried out rescue operation and evacuated 36 persons at Teh- Chotila & Muli, district Surendranagar and 57 persons at Vill-Khambak, district Morbi. Today, team evacuated 02 persons at Surendranagar.
One NDRF team operational at Amreli, Gujarat, where 02 persons got missing due to flash flood. Team retrieved one body. The search operation is still in progress.
Today, One NDRF team carried out rescue operation at Village- Jarwani, District Narmada, Gujarat and retrieved the body of victim who was drowned in Narmada dam.
Today One team carried out rescue operation at Vill- Jonai, Distt-Dhemaji, Assam where 01 person is missing in Leku River and retrieved the body of victim.
51 Flood rescue teams of NDRF have been pre-positioned in flood prone areas across the country for prompt response to disaster during this monsoon.
DG NDRF is monitoring the situation closely and in touch with other agencies and stakeholders for further development of situation.
