FLOOD RESCUE AND EVACUATION OPERATIONS BY NDRF

Massive flood rescue and relief operations by NDRF continue. The brave-hearts of NDRF are relentlessly engaged in rescuing the people with other agencies in worst flood affected areas of Assam, Bihar, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. In addition to flood response, NDRF teams also responded to other eventualities arises due to floods viz. boat capsize incidents, Landslides and building collapses and proved its worth by rescuing 2863 persons, evacuating 66724 persons and 233 livestock. NDRF also provided medical assistance to 5669 persons during this monsoon season.
Bihar: 28 flood rescue teams of NDRF have been rendering humanitarian services in the marooned areas of Bihar with the help of 112 boats and other lifesaving equipment where flood situation continue to worsen. Besides, rescuing the marooned people, rescue boats of NDRF are being used as mobile ambulances to provide medical assistance in far flung areas. Yesterday, over 5630 persons were evacuated and 2036 persons were provided medical assistance by NDRF in mobile medical camps organised at Gopalganj, Bettiah and Purnea and medical camps with civil administration at Muzzaffarpur, Supaul and Khagaria. Till now, 927 persons have been rescued, 31796 persons and 192 livestock have been evacuate by NDRF in Bihar.
Uttar Pradesh: Following continuous rains and discharge of water in rivers from Nepal, the flood situation worsened in Baharaich, Gorakhpur, Shrawasti, Sidharthnagar, Maharajganj and Balrampur districts of UP.
23 flood rescue teams of NDRF equipped with 69 boats are continuously engaged in rescue & relief operations with other agencies in various flood affected areas. Yesterday, NDRF rescued, more than 3720 persons, provided medical assistance to 630 persons and also distributed relief materials to needy. So far, 69 persons have been rescued and 13348 persons have been evacuated by NDRF in Uttar Pradesh.
Assam: The flood situation is improving in Assam. NDRF teams are carrying out rescue and relief work to bring normalcy in the State. Yesterday, 213 persons were evacuated at District Noagaon. In addition, a medical camp was organized at Dhubri in which 602 were given medical assistance. So far, 94 persons have been rescued and 7244 evacuated by NDRF in Assam.
West Bengal: 19 teams are operational in worst flood affected areas of South Dinajpur, North Dinajpur and Malda districts. 01 team at Rajarhat, 04 teams at South Dinajpur, 06 at North Dinajpur and 08 teams at Malda are deployed. Yesterday, NDRF teams rescued 543 persons and also distributed relief materials to flood victims. So far, 253 persons have been rescued and 4381 persons have been evacuated by NDRF in West Bengal.
NDRF HQ, New Delhi is monitoring the situation closely and in touch with other agencies and stakeholders.
