FLOOD RESCUE AND EVACUATION OPERATION BY NDRF
Dated 28th July, 2016 Time 1300 Hrs
44 flood rescue teams of NDRF have been pre-positioned in various flood prone areas of the country viz. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and West Bengal to assist the respective state administration in rescue and relief work. NDRF teams are fully equipped with boats, divers and other flood rescue equipment
13 flood rescue teams are deployed in Assam to meet the challenges due to flood like situations. NDRF team evacuated 142 persons at Jorhat, 43 persons at Charang district and marooned persons Kokarajhar. In addition to rescue work, NDRF team distributed relief material (3688 Kg-Rice, 459 Kg- Dal, 150 Kg- Potato, 184 Kg- Salt, 168 Pkt- Biscuits, 115 Pkt- Bread, 48 Kg- Sugar and 482 Kg- Tarpollin) to the flood affected victims at Jorhat, 1040 Kg- feeding Material, 10 – Blanket, 10 Umbrella & 07 litre Kerosene oil at Kokrajhar
09 flood rescue teams of NDRF are pre-positioned in Bihar in connection with monsoon session. NDRF team evacuated 90 persons at Darbhanga, 497 persons at Purnia and 66 persons at Supaul. In addition to rescue work, NDRF team distributed relief material (530 Pkts) at Kishanganj.
03 flood rescue teams of NDRF are pre-positioned in U.P. The teams evacuated 468 marooned persons to safer places at Tehsil Shoratgarh, district Siddharthnagar.
A 24X7, NDRF control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and in touch with other agencies.
