FLOOD RESCUE AND EVACUATION OPERATION BY NDRF

Dated 04th August, 2016 Time 1230 Hrs

The flood rescue and relief operation by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in flood prone areas is still continue.

Four Search & Rescue (SAR) teams of NDRF are operational in Maharashtra's Raigad District, where a bridge collapsed over Savitri River. NDRF teams are relentlessly engaged to search the victims since yesterday.

On 03 August 2016, NDRF team deployed at Nasik for flood rescue & relief operation rescued 57 persons from village Karanjee & Saikhedeand further shifted them to safer places.

NDRF teams deployed in Assam, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh organised mobile medical camps at various flood affected areas. The teams provided medical attention to 70 persons at Gopalganj (Bihar), 322 persons at Jorhat (Assam) and 83 persons at Varanasi (U.P). In addition, teams deployed at Tehsil- Uttraula, Distt-Balrampur, UP assisted local administration in distribution of 800 nos food packet and relief materials to the flood affected victims.

So far, 10, 463 persons have been evacuated by NDRF from the flooded parts across the country during this monsoon season. In addition to rescue work, teams also established medical camps at various areas of Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh & West Bengal and provided medical attention to 6597 persons.

A 24X7, NDRF control room in New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and in touch with other agencies.
