FLOOD RESCUE AND EVACUATION OPERATION BY NDRF

42 self-contained flood rescue teams of NDRF have been pre-positioned in flood prone areas to assist the respective state administration in rescue and relief work.
Yesterday, NDRF teams deployed at Assam carried out rescue & evacuation operation and evacuated 299 marooned people at vill-Birna Badi Tehsil- Majuli, district- Jorhat and 45 persons at vill-Dababill under revenue circle Sidli, district–Charang. Besides, a medical camp was established by NDRF team at vill-Birna Badi Distt- Majuli and provided medical attention to 299 needy persons.
Team deployed at Uttarakashi left to Gangnadi carried out evacuation operation and evacuated 100 persons (Kawaria) who were stranded due to heavy rain. Besides, team evacuated few people stranded at Jhajra, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
NDRF teams operational at Goplaganj, (Bihar), conducted rescue and evacuation operation in Gandak river at vill –Baripati Under, block Vinshupur and evacuated 60 persons to safer places. In addition to rescue work, team established medical camp and provided medical attention to 175 sick and needy persons in flood affected areas. The rescue, relief and evacuation operation by NDRF is still in progress.
A 24X7, NDRF control room in New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and in touch with other agencies.
