DATED :- 09th March 2016

TIME :- 1300 HRS

On 08th March, 2016 a truck filled with Phenoyl Chloride chemical, which is hazardous in nature and could be fatal overturned on Bengaluru – Mysore highway near Bengaluru. The incident took place 40 Km away from Bengaluru.

After getting information from local Administration, NDRF team based at Bengaluru rushed to the incident site and immediately started efforts to contain the leakage. Since fumes were emitting from the tanker in huge volumes, NDRf rescuers could close in only after putting on Chemical suits. The tanker was covered with sand to prevent further leakage, as that is the suggested drill for this chemical. Timely and swift action by NDRF team resulted in preventing a catastrophe.

Salvage operation is going on for last 15 hours. As per the ground report no loss of life is reported. Efforts are being made to shift the tanker to isolated place.
