Assam Flood: NDRF teams evacuated more than 12,000 persons

Continuous rain since 14th June causes River Kopili, a major tributary of the Brahmaputra & River Puthimari flow above danger level and created flood situation in the state.
On the requisition of Assam State administration, 20 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in the 16 flood affected districts out of which 02 teams are airlifted today from NDRF Cuttack (Odisha) base. In addition to this 6 more teams i.e. 2 teams from Cuttack (Odisha) base and 4 teams from Doimukh (Arunachal Pradesh) base are being airlifted to provide relief to the state.

NDRF teams started rescue and relief operation since 16th June and till now rescued 08 precious lives and evacuated more than 12,000 persons from the far flung maroon areas alongwith 32 livestock. NDRF teams are also assisting state administration in distribution of relief material. Rescue and relief operation is still continues.

Tripura is also affected by flood and 02 NDRF teams are operating in the affected area. About 800 stuck people have been evacuated by the Force in the state.
Presently, 125 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been pre-positioned across the country in view of impending flood.

DG NDRF is closely monitoring the situation and is in close touch with concerned authorities/stakeholders.
