04 NDRF TEAMS RUSHED TO KOLKATA FOR RESCUE OPERATION
Dated 31st March, 2016 Time : 1700 Hrs
Today, a portion of a Vivekananda flyover in Girish Park area of North Kolkata, West Bengal collapsed leaving several persons trapped. As per Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), Kolkata, severe people are trapped under the debris.
In view of above, 04 Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) teams of NDRF comprising of trained responders equipped with Collapsed Structure Search & Rescue (CSSR) & Medical First Responder (MFR) equipment rushed to the incident site from its Kolkata base to assist the local administration in rescue and relief operation. 03 more teams are on the way to assist in rescue operation. Medical component and Canine which is the integral part of USAR teams also mobilised to incident site with teams to strengthen the rescue & relief work. 24x7 NDRF control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation.
