Simastha Kumbh Mela–2016 was held in Ujjain, Madya Pradesh from22nd April 2016 to 21st May 2016, in which millions of pilgrims visited to take a dip in the Shipra river on this occasion. NDRF deployed 05 teams for disaster management response on the requisition of State Govt.
As per the direction of DG NDRF, Commandant 11th Bn NDRF, Varanasi (UP) liaised with DG, Home Guard & Civil Defence, Bhopal, MP and deployed 05 teams consisting of GOs-07, SOs-35, Ors-193, a total of 235 rescuers (including deep divers and paramedics) along with 19 boats, flood rescue, CSSR, High Rise rescue, CBRN equipments at Ram Ghat, Bhukhi Mata Ghat,Mangalnath Ghat, Maheshwar (Khargaone) and Omkareshwar (Khandwa)in Ujjain, MP.
On 21.05.2016 a fire incident occurred due to short circuit at Ramsharan Gopal Ashram, Mangalnath Ghat. Team carried out rescue ops and extinguished the fire and control the situation with the help of Fire Brigade. During rescue operation team evacuated 15 persons and saved the property worth 15 Lacs.
During the entire period in Simastha Kumbh Mela–2016, NDRF teamsrescued 34 persons, provide medical treatment to 92,944 pilgrims, distributed medicine to 4623 pilgrims and retrieved 01 dead body.
