In 2018, during monsoon season, state of Kerala, Tripura, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan, J&K, Maharashtra and Uttarakhand experienced massive floods. The rains submerged roads and cut off several villages from rest of the state. Pre-positioned teams of NDRF immediately swung into action and carried out flood rescue operations with full zeal and commitment.
The NDRF had made its highest ever deployment in a single state since raising and deputed its 58 teams in Kerala. Teams of NDRF deployed in various flood affected sates, successfully rescued 1214 persons, evacuated 43637 persons, 276 live-stocks and further shifted them to safer places. Teams also retrieved 21 dead bodies. In addition, teams also provided medical assistance to flood affected victims and assisted the state authorities in relief distribution.
