MONSOON-2018: NDRF EVACUATED 50 PERSONS IN GUJARAT

On 11th July, 2018, incessant rain in the some parts of Valsad, Gujarat increased the water level of the Auranga River, resulting in waterlogging in low lying areas of Bander Road, Valsad city and Kashmir Nagar. The sudden increase of water stranded several people. On intimation, 01 flood rescue team of NDRF pre-positioned at Valsad for emergency response immediately rushed to flooded areas of Kashmir Nagar in Valsad, (Gujarat) and carried out evacuation operation and evacuated 50 persons to safer place.
09 self-contained NDRF teams have been pre-positioned for rescue and relief work in Gujarat. 03 teams are stationed at Regional Response Center (RRC), Gandhi Nagar. In addition, 01 team each has been pre-positioned at Surat, Amreli, Valsad, Banaskatha. Yesterday, 02 additional teams were mobilized from NDRF base Bhatinda that have been pre-positioned at Mahisagar and Navsari. NDRF teams have been put on high alert and are keeping close watch over the situation.
97 self-contained rescue and relief teams of NDRF comprising of more than 3150 responders have been deployed across the country to face the challenges arising due to floods. To supplement the deployment, additional teams have also been kept as stand by at other NDRF locations.
A 24x7, NDRF control room in New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and is in touch with other agencies/stakeholders.
