FLOOD - 2017

ASSAM: Test Several districts of Assam were severely affected with floods. Due to pre-positioning of teams, in advance NDRF responded promptly and timely in all flood like situations in various districts of Assam. In the third week of August, 2017, due to heavy rains in North East regions several districts of Assam were affected with floods, total 19 teams of NDRF were deployed at Guwahati, Cachar (Silchar), Gopur (Biswanath), Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Majuli, Chirang, Dhubri, Morigaon, Nagaon, Dhemaji, Sadia (Tinsukia), Jorhat, Sibsagar and Dibrugarh for search and rescue operations as well as for distribution of relief material in consultation with state government. This is the highest ever deployment of NDRF in Assam.
NDRF teams conducted a number of flood rescue operations, in which rescued 94 persons, evacuated 8001 persons & retrieved 14 dead bodies. Medical assistance was also provided to 230 flood affected people.

BIHAR: Due to heavy rains and water released from Nepal, most of the rivers flow above danger level and there was flood like situation in the several district of Bihar. To cope up the flood situation, NDRF air lifted 10 teams from Bhubaneswar and 07 teams from Bhatinda and a total 28 teams were deployed in various districts of Bihar i.e. Kishanganj, Supaul, Darbhanga, Patna, Muzzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Buxar, Bhagalpur, Araria, Gaya, Katihar, Nalanada, Begusarai, Samstipur, Munger, Madhubani, Purnia, Sitamarhi, West Champaran and Madhepura. This is the highest ever deployment of NDRF in Bihar.
NDRF teams conducted a number of flood rescue operations, in which rescued 956 persons, evacuated 46567 persons & 287 live stocks and retrieved 45 dead bodies. Medical assistance was also provided to 10,221 flood affected people.

GUJARAT: Gujarat has experienced heavy rains this year. Due to heavy rains in second and third week of July, there were flood situations in the several districts of the state. As per the request of state government to manage the flood like situations, NDRF airlifted 03 teams from Delhi, 03 teams from Bhubaneswar and 04 teams from Rajali Air Base, Tamil Nadu. As such 33 teams of NDRF were deployed at Ahmadabad, Banaskatha, Patan, Bhuj, Morbi, Rajkot, Mahisagar, Aravalli, Vadodara, Surendernagar, Surat, Anand Kheda, Valsad and Gandhinagar for search and rescue operations as well as for distribution of relief material in consultation with state government. This is the highest ever deployment of NDRF in Gujarat.
NDRF teams conducted a number of flood rescue operations, in which rescued 1355 persons, evacuated 7331 persons & 27 live stocks and retrieved 12 dead bodies. Medical assistance was also provided to flood affected people.

UTTAR PRADESH: There were flood like situations in several districts of eastern UP. As per the request of state government to manage the flood like situations, NDRF airlifted 04 teams from Pune. As such 24 teams of NDRF were deployed at Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Ballia, Sharavasti, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Balrampur, Gonda & Deoria for search and rescue operations as well as for distribution of relief material in consultation with state government. This is the highest ever deployment of NDRF in Uttar Pradesh.
NDRF teams conducted a number of flood rescue operations, in which rescued 209 persons, evacuated 26916 persons & 8 live stocks and retrieved 14 dead bodies. Medical assistance was also provided to 24060 flood affected people.

WEST BENGAL: Due to heavy rains in the region and rise of water level in most of the rivers, there were flood like situation several districts of the state. As per the request of state government to manage the flood like situations, NDRF airlifted 07 teams from Rajali Airbase, Taminl Nadu. As such 19 teams of NDRF were deployed at Rajarhat (Kolkata) Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Birbhum, Medinipur, Malda, South Dinajpur & North Dinajpur for flood rescue operations and distribution of relief material in consultation with state government. This is the highest ever deployment of NDRF in West Bengal.

NDRF teams conducted a number of flood rescue operations, in which rescued 253 persons, evacuated 6062 persons and retrieved 09 dead bodies. Medical assistance was also provided to flood affected people.
