On 15.05.2018, an under construction flyover was collapse near Cantonment Railway Station at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Immediately, 02 teams of NDRF rushed to the incident site from its base camp Varanasi. On reaching the site it was observed that one mini bus, two Bolero Jeeps and one tempo trapped under the slabs with live victims inside. After assessing the gravity of incident, 05 more teams mobilized and conducted Search & Rescue Operations from 1820 hrs to 2130 hrs with the help of rescue equipment including cold cutting equipment and cranes. NDRF teams rescued 03 live victims (01 female & 02 male) and retrieved 18 dead bodies including the dead bodies of two NDRF personnel namely Constable/GD Bhawani Shankar and Constable/GD Ram Milan Chauhan, who were returning from the course also trapped in the bus.
