NDRF Organizes National Capacity Building Competition for SDRFs

New Delhi, March 2025: NDRF is organizing a National Capacity Building Competition for State Disaster Response Forces (SDRFs) to enhance their preparedness and efficiency in handling collapsed structure emergencies. With 59.4% of India’s landmass in Earthquake-prone zones IV and V, this initiative aims to strengthen disaster response capabilities and promote best practices in disaster management.

The competition will be conducted in two stages. The Regional Level Competition is scheduled from 17-18 March 2025, at four NDRF battalion locations across the country: Kolkata, Pune, Ghaziabad and Vijayawada. In the second stage the National Level Competition will be held among the Winners and Runners Up Teams of Stage-1 competitions in the first week of April 2025 at 8th Bn NDRF, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

The event features various disaster response challenges designed to test the capabilities of participating agencies. Participants will be engaged in search and rescue operations, medical emergency response and communication drills, simulating real-world disaster scenarios. This initiative provides a unique opportunity for SDRFs to enhance their operational skills, exchange expertise and improve coordination in disaster response efforts.

By fostering collaboration and innovation, the competition will play a significant role in strengthening overall disaster preparedness at both state and national levels and ensure a more resilient and efficient response framework for future disasters.
