New Delhi, April 21, 2025: The NDRF is hosting the first-ever National Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) Competition of State Disaster Response Forces (SDRFs) from April 21 to 23, 2025 at 8th Battalion NDRF in Ghaziabad.
A total of eight SDRF teams from the states/UTs of Andhra Pradesh, Daman & Diu, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Odisha, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal are participating in this three-day event. Prior to this, Zonal-level CSSR competitions were conducted across India during March 2025 by various NDRF Battalions. The top two teams from each zone have been selected to compete at the National level.
Inaugurating the Final stage of competition Shri Piyush Anand, IPS, Director General, NDRF, stated that the first National CSSR Competition is a significant step towards enhancing the capabilities and coordination of SDRFs. He appreciated the enthusiasm and dedication shown by participating teams in the competition and expressed the hope that it will prove to be a good learning both for SDRF & NDRF.
The participants from across the country have gathered to showcase their skills in Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) operations in collapsed structures—an essential component of effective disaster response. This National-level competition aims to foster a spirit of excellence, coordination and preparedness among SDRFs, further strengthening the country’s disaster response mechanism and make India disaster resilient.
The closing ceremony and prize distribution will be held on April 24, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi for which Hon’ble Union Home Minister has consented to be the chief guest.
