India Extends Humanitarian Aid and Deploys NDRF Rescue Team to Myanmar Following Devastating Earthquake
New Delhi, March 29, 2025: In response to the catastrophic 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025, India has swiftly mobilized humanitarian aid and specialized disaster response team to support relief efforts.
A heavy Urban Search & rescue (USAR) Team of 80 skilled Rescuers of 8 Bn NDRF at Ghaziabad, along with four trained canines have been airlifted from Hindon Air Base to Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. The team is equipped with advanced search and rescue equipment to operate efficiently in the affected areas.This deployment aligns with India's Operation Brahma, aimed at extending humanitarian assistance to Myanmar at this time of crisis.
Additionally, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has dispatched a C-130 aircraft carrying essential relief supplies, including blankets, tarpaulins, hygiene kits, sleeping bags, solar lamps, food packets, and kitchen sets. A dedicated medical team has also accompanied the mission to provide immediate healthcare support to the affected people.
The Government of India remains committed to assisting Myanmar in its recovery efforts. The NDRF team will coordinate closely with local authorities to provide life-saving search & rescue operations and logistical support.
