HOME MINISTER INAUGURATEs NDRF’s TWO DAY NATIONAL LEVEL CONFERENCE ON CAPACITY BUILDING OF SDRF-2017

Today, Union Home Minister Sh. Rajnath Singh inaugurated the National Level conference on capacity building of State Disaster Response Forces (SDRFs) organized by National Disaster Response Force(NDRF) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, in presence of Additional Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Dr. P.K. Mishra, DGs & SDGs of SDRF from all States, MHA, NDMA, NIDM, INCOISIS, IMD and other stake holders.. The conference aims to develop synergies the response of central & State disaster response forces and to highlight way ahead to strengthen the response capabilities of SDRFs.
Hon’ble Home Minister applauded NDRF for organizing such a National level conference and said that as disaster has no geographical and physical boundaries so we must think beyond boundaries for effective management of disasters. In the past time places which were considered safe for disaster are being affected by disasters, today. Worsening of environmental balance , rapid urbanization and rapid industrialization are the key causes of disasters today.
Hon’ble Home Minister praised States for raising their own State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and emphasized the need of strengthening of SDRFs by specialized training and equipping with latest gadgets and tools, improving bilateral and regional cooperation among states so that States can help each other at the time of disaster. For minimizing the impact of disaster, India has shifted its approach from disaster management to disaster resilience, and continuously working for capacity building of community. NDRF has trained over 50 lakhs persons across the country through its various capacity building programmes.
Dr. P K Mishra, Additional Secretary to the Hon’ble Prime Minister also addressed to the delegates, complimented NDRF for organizing this conference and emphasized the need of capacity building at all level which will helpful to make the citizen as first responders. He also stressed the need of effective preparedness and capacity building of other agencies.
DG, NDRF Sh. R.K Pachnanda, welcomed the august gathering and emphasized the need of disaster risk reduction and disaster resilience which includes community awareness programmes, school safety programmes and mock drills and asserted to strengthen the capabilities of SDRF by providing specialized training and equipping with latest disaster managements equipment.
As a special initiative for boosting the confidence and skills of the Students, NDRF conducted various mock drills and school safety programmes during last one month in all Kendryia Vidhayalay Schools of Delhi & NCR and other parts of the country. Under this campaign, Inter- School, School Safety Mock Drill competition, and Inter School – Open Essay competition on “How will I respond in case of an earthquake” were organized. Kendriya Vidyalaya No-01, Sadar Bazar, Delhi Cant was the winner of Inter School Safety Mock Drill Competition . Mrs. Sneha of KV, AGCR Colony, Karkardooma, Delhi and Mrs. Aditi Patel of Kendriya Vidyalay No-03, Nariana, Delhi Cant were the winner of Open Essay Competition in Junior and Senior level. The winner were awarded by Hon’ble Home Minister .
The conference is being attended by the Director General of Police of All States/UTs, Relief Commissioners and representatives from SDMA, SDRF, NDMA, INCOISIS, IMD, NIDM and other stack holders.
