35 ADDITIONAL TEAMS BEING AIRLIFTED TO KERALA

Dated 16/08/2018 Time: - 1700 Hrs.

The massive rescue and relief operations by NDRF in the flooded parts of Kerala is in full swing where continuous heavy rainfall worsened the flood situations. NDRF has pressed its 18 self-contained teams in worst affected districts of Kerala viz Thrissur (03 Teams), Ernakulum (02 Teams), Alappuzha (02 Teams), Wayanad (02 Teams), Kozhikode (02 Teams), Idukki (04 Teams) & Pathanamthilla (03 Teams). The NDRF teams are engaged on war footing to make the access to the stranded people by overcoming all challenges.

2. Today, NDRF teams evacuated 707 persons (Pathanamthitta-172, Ernakulam-151, Kozhikode-99, Alapuzha-202 and Thrissur-83 persons) till the last report came. Evacuation operation is still in progress.

3. Yesterday, NDRF teams rescued 01 person in Ernakulum, evacuated 1083 persons from various flood hits districts viz. (Pathanamthitta-385, Alappuzha-63, Ernakulum-441, Kozhikode-73, & Thrissur-121) and 02 livestock in Pathanamthitta. In addition, teams also provided Pre Hospital Treatment (PHT) to 160 persons.

4. To strengthen the rescue and relief operations, 12 additional teams are being airlifted (06 each from NDRF base Vododara, Gujarat and Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh) and will reach Kerala by late evening, today. Besides, 23 more teams (06 each from NDRF base Patna (Bihar), Haringhata (West Bengal), Mundali (Odisha) and 05 from Bhatinda (Punjab) are ready to be airlifted on arrival of aircraft's. Additional NDRF teams are put on standby at various NDRF battalions and shall be mobilized, if required.

5. NDRF control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation round the clock and is in close touch with other agencies/stakeholders.
