DEEP DEPRESSION OVER BAY OF BENGAL (BOB)
A deep depression formed in Bay of Bengal which further advanced and moved/passed through the States of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka & Maharashtra, resultantly torrential rainfall received in these states on 12th & 13th October, 2020. Due to heavy rainfall and release of water from the dams/reservoirs, flood like situation/water logging occurred in some of the districts in these States. The details are as under:
1. TELANGANA:
Due to deep depression and continuous rains, flood like situation/waterlogging occurred at Ramanthapur, Mayuri Nagar, Pochampalli, Chadryangutta, Bandangpet, Falaknuma, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Bhuvangiri, Malkajgiri, L B Nagar, Hayatnagar in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts in the State of Telangana. Keeping in view of the severity of the situation, NDRF deployed its 06 teams in Hyderabad/Rangareddy districts. Teams conducted flood rescue operations and rescued 26 persons, evacuated 6051 persons and 9 livestock.
2. ANDHRA PRADESH:
Due to deep depression and continuous rains in East Godavari, West Godavari, Vishakhapatnam, Vizianagaram & Krishna districts and its adjoining areas in the State of Andhra Pradesh, NDRF deployed its 06 teams in Krishna, East Godawari, West Godawari & Vishakhapatnam. Due to the heavy rains, some areas of district East Godavari experienced water logging especially in Kakinada. Teams conducted flood rescue operations and rescued 05 persons, evacuated 237 persons & 02 livestock.
3. KARNATAKA:
Due to deep depression and continuous rains in Central Maharashtra and adjoining Karnataka, consequently dams/reservoirs were full and discharged water. NDRF deployed its 06 teams at Yadgir, Belagavi, Kalburgi Vijayapura and Raichur in addition to the 06 teams already deployed in the state of Karnataka (Total-12 teams). There were waterlogging in low lying areas in district Kalburgi, Vijayapura. Teams conducted flood rescue operations and rescued 07 persons, evacuated 939 persons & 122 livestock.
4. MAHARASHTRA:
Due to deep depression and continuous rains in North Karnataka districts and adjoining area of Maharashtra, there were waterlogging in low lying areas in district Latur and Sholapur in Maharashtra. NDRF deployed its 05 teams at Solapur, Raigad and Pune in addition to 04 teams already located at RRC Mumbai & Nagpur in the State of Maharashtra (Total-09 teams). Teams conducted flood rescue operations and rescued 688 persons and evacuated 48 livestock.
