NDRF TAKES LEAD IN CONDUCTING FIRST INTER STATE JOINT MOCK EXERCISE IN PUNE

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in collaboration with Gujarat & Maharashtra state is conducting a two days long first ever inter-state Joint Mock Exercise on “Earthquake Search & Rescue” at Natsamrat, Nilu Phule Natyagruha, Sangvi, Pune in Maharashtra. In the first phase, a table top exercise was held with the active participation of NDRF, SDRF and other stakeholders, today.
During the table top exercise the preparedness for the exercise was put in place. The table top exercise was conducted based on the collapsed structure scenario. The observers, participating teams of NDRF & SDRF and officials from other departments were briefed about their role. In addition, detailed briefing about the conduct of mock exercise was conducted by NDRF coordinator.
Director General, NDRF, Sh. Sanjay Kumar is personally supervising the first ever inter-state exercise scheduled for today & tomorrow. Delivering the welcome address, DG, NDRF, Sh. Sanjay Kumar said that this exercise has been designed to share best practices and knowledge for mutual benefit, transfer of technology and joint ventures in the field of disaster management, multi-agency coordination on the face of trans-disasters. He further added that the exercise will provide a unique platform to come together to create a joint response mechanism for integrated response and multiagency coordination among various agencies.
The Inter-state joint mock exercise is a unique and new initiative by Government of Maharashtra and Gujarat which will prove a milestone towards creating an effective regional response mechanism, he added.
The exercise was attended by Mrs. Archna Tyagi, Addl. Director General, State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), Sh. Daulat Desai, Director, Disaster Management Unit (DMU), Maharashtra, senior official of NDRF, SDRF and officials from various State departments. The joint mock exercise shall be conducted tomorrow.
